Ellen Kohler
University of Maryland Environmental Finance Center Program Director of Water Resources
The UMD Environmental Finance Center is one of ten around the country, each serving an Environmental Protection Agency region. We serve Region 3 - Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. We partner with the Syracuse EFC on work in New Jersey. We work directly with communities and organizations to identify strategies and solutions for environmental and sustainability challenges. I am an attorney and I specialize in water and natural resource management, regulation and policy. I work across all three water sectors - drinking water, waste water, and stormwater. I am particularly interested in supporting communities in moving toward integrated water management (for example, identifying projects that can address both drinking water and stormwater issues). EFC is also working with communities to address inequality, particularly as research shows that more equal communities are stronger and more financially stable.
