Tasha Castaldi
NJ DEP/Division of Coastal Engineering Environmental Specialist 1
Toms River, NJ
I work for the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, in the Division of Coastal Engineering. My division office is in Toms River, NJ. The primary purpose of my office is to provide shore protection to all of New Jersey's shorelines, including along the Atlantic Ocean, Raritan Bay, and Delaware Bay. We do everything from design and engineering to bidding and construction oversight. We do beach (re)nourishments, gabion baskets, seawalls, revetments, bulkheads, floodgates, and other shoreline stabilization and flood control/prevention. As an environmentalist I do permitting, coordination of stakeholders, assist with construction oversight, storm impact assessments, as well as many other tasks. I am three years into the environmental field. I have learned a lot in this time but I know there is so much more to be learned and look forward to interacting, networking, and getting to know people that have a lot of experience and knowledge to share. I am especially interested in people's experience and knowledge of NJ rules and regulations and how they apply to their field.
